Fall from Height Sees Firm Fined

Last month (May), a West Midlands based business was fined after an employee suffered serious injuries, following a fall from a ladder.

In the incident which occurred in March last year, the employee suffered serious foot injuries after falling two-metres from a ladder whilst erecting scaffolding; with the injuries sustained resulting in the employee being reliant on a wheelchair and not working since.

During a heating in the Magistrates Court, the firm were fined £5,000, ordered to pay in excess of £500 in costs and a £500 victim surcharge, after pleading guilty to breaching regulation 4(1) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
