Howe+Co is pleased to announce that the Home Office has published its new guidance on Adult Children of Gurkha veterans. This change of policy was the direct result of the firm’s successful Court of Appeal case on Gurkha Adult Dependent children.
Howe+Co’s high profile case for the rights of Gurkhas back in 2008, which the firm was instrumental in winning, used legal aid to challenge a policy at the High Court resulting in Gurkha veterans being given the right to settle in the UK.
For the first time, this new guidance on Adult Children of Gurkha veterans provides a route for settlement for adult children of Gurkha veterans who were discharged before 1997.
The policy (updated January 2015) is available to read here: www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/391115/IDI_15_Section_2A_Final_05.01.15.pdf
