New Measures Introduced to Encourage Chinese Tourists

Over the weekend it was reported that the Home Office would be launching new measures to attract Chinese tourists and investors to the UK; following previous concerns that Chinese nationals are opting to visit other European countries, due to their easier visa application process.

The visa application process for Chinese nationals wishing to visit the UK has in the past come under heavy criticism, with individuals being required to have their fingerprints taken at a centre in China; whilst they also faced higher fees and a lengthier visa application process.

However, reports over the weekend revealed that the Home Office would be introducing new measures to encourage Chinese nationals to visit the UK – and these measures have been outlined today.

Under the measures announced, Chinese nationals visiting the European Union will no longer be required to submit an individual UK visa application, if booking via certain travel agents; whilst from August a 24-hour priority visa service will be available for both businesses and individuals, willing to pay a £600 fee for fast tracking.
