SMEs Support Proposals to Tackle Workplace Accident Claims

Recently published figures have revealed that in the last five years, almost a quarter of small and medium sized businesses within the UK have had a workplace injury claim filed against them.

According to the latest figures, during the period the number of firms facing claims for workplace injury compensation has significantly increased, despite the number of reported workplace accidents and injuries seeing a fall.

As a result of the increase in workplace accident claims, businesses are reporting a rise in insurance premiums; which has led to them supporting proposed reforms to tackle excessive workplace accident claims.

The figures suggest that roughly 70 percent of small and medium sized businesses support proposals to remove the “no win no fee” offer, whilst roughly 80 percent of businesses have voiced support for a ban on referral fees.

It has also been suggested that many businesses support the legislative changes being introduced by the government.
