Day four to eight of the Inquiry continue to hear the most compelling evidence of the widespread failures to protect vulnerable individuals. Some of the most compelling and distressing evidence was heard in camera and not allowed to be streamed. “I have spent the last 8 days at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse public inquiry (Roman Catholic Church Module), 7 more days to go. This morning a disabled woman gave evidence of the abuse she suffered at the hands of a senior Benedictine Monk. Her evidence was beyond words. As parts of her statement were read out to the Court she involuntarily put her hands to her ears and rocked in her seat. I wept as I listened. I can only hope that this public inquiry, the latest in a long line, finally draws a line.”
