Martin Howe is the founding and senior partner of Howe+Co. Martin is a multi-award winning solicitor, including being the recipient of the Liberty and Justice Human Rights Award and the Norris McWhirter Human Rights Award.
Martin is a nationally recognised lawyer. Just some of Martin’s notable cases include:
- The Grenfell Tower Public Inquiry – Martin represented a large proportion of the Bereaved, Survivors, and Residents of the Grenfell Tower Tragedy of 14 June 2017, when 72 people tragically died in the worst fire disaster since the Second World War. Martin was engaged in the significant compensation claims for the victims arising out of the tragedy.
- Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry – Martin and his firm represent over 70% of the Postmaster victims before the Statutory Inquiry and hundreds of Postmasters, from across the UK, in relation to their compensation claims.
- Supreme Court Case – R (Miller) v Prime Minister (No. 2) the UKSC, (Prorogation of Parliament) in which Martin acted for the Shadow Attorney General in the landmark constitutional case concerning a Prime Minister’s (Boris Johnson) power to prorogue Parliament.
- The Gurkha Justice Campaign – Martin acted for thousands of British Army soldier veterans of the Brigade of Gurkhas and their families, in the ground breaking High Court proceedings; winning them the right to settle in the UK following discharge from the army. The legal proceedings were the subject of a debate in the House of Commons, which led to the first defeat of a sitting Government in an Opposition Day Motion for 31 years. Martin worked closely with the renowned actress Joanna Lumley in this campaign.
- The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) – Martin’s firm represented more than 25% of all of the victims and survivors before 11 of the 15 investigation strands of the IICSA.
