More About Mark

Mark Collins is a passionate and tenacious advocate for victims of accidents. He has acted for the victims of accidents since he qualified in 1991. He joined Howe+Co in February 2012, and became Head of Department in 2017.

He has experience in major brain injury claims, and spinal claims having achieved significant compensation on behalf of many victims who have suffered life changing injuries.

His highest compensation achievement involved a multi million pound settlement on behalf of a child who suffered cerebral palsy following birth complications.

He was one of the first solicitors to recognise the plight of those who suffer with industrial hearing loss, and the more serious condition of tinnitus. He was responsible for a group action against BT on behalf of their field engineers in southern England, and negotiated a compensation package on behalf of that group. He has acted for miners, steel workers and heavy engineers over many years.

He is at the forefront of making claims for compensation on behalf of veterans who have served in the armed services. He personally represents the veterans of the Gurkha Brigade in their claims for compensation against the British Government for multiple causes, not least Military Noise Induced Hearing Loss, and tinnitus.

Recently he has been one of four solicitors who formed a Strategy Group of legal advisers on behalf of the victims of the Grenfell Tragedy, assisting in guiding 14 law firms in the historic compensation settlement for 903 victims of the fire against 21 Defendants including governmental and corporate bodies. He is proud of this achievement in helping achieve a measure of justice on behalf of a group of victims who suffered so much as a result of the negligence of the Government and corporate bodies.

Mark has also represented dozens of members of the Travelling Community who have been discriminated against by the service and hospitality sector. He was the lead solicitor against J D Wetherspoons PLC in the High Court when the company discriminated against a group of Travellers, and supporters. That case has now become the lead case when considering such discrimination, and damages for racial discrimination.

Mark is known for his empathy, and tenacity with clients when taking on claims, and always acts in the best interests of the client providing down to earth understandable advice in what can be very emotional cases. He builds a lasting rapport with clients and guides them through the intricate claims process with sensitivity and common sense advice.
